Bio : Christina Simpson
Christina Simpson began her undergraduate career at the Colburn Conservatory and graduated Cum Laude from UC Berkeley. An active chamber musician, she has performed throughout the Bay Area including with the Benicia Chamber Players, the SF Contemporary Music Players, the SF Friends of Chamber Music, and One Found Sound, as well as over 40 chamber music concerts with Groupmuse. She has premiered new chamber music at Festival Napa Valley, and is a frequent performer with the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival, touring Northern California and Oregon with the ensemble. Christina has also participated in Music@Menlo and the St. Lawrence Quartet Chamber Music Seminar.
Equally at home in an orchestral setting, Christina has served as Principal Violist for the Merced Symphony, the Island City Opera, and the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, performing additionally with the Modesto Symphony, Symphony Napa Valley, the Stockton Symphony, the Merced Symphony, and the Vallejo Symphony. Non-classical collaborations include a run at Yoshi’s with the R&B band Tony! Toni! Tone!, a tour with electronic music duo Odesza, and a performance with Grammy-winning jazz singer Gregory Porter at Davies Hall. She has recorded with various artists at Fantasy Studios, 25th Street Studio, Tiny Telephone Studios, ZooLabs, and Soundwave Studios.
Previous teachers include Geraldine Walther, Paul Coletti, Linda Ghidossi-DeLuca, Jeffrey Irvine and Jay Liu. Her chamber music mentors include Gilbert Kalish, Barry Schiffman, Jorja Fleezanis, and members of the Takacs, Cavani, Orion, Emerson, and St. Lawrence string quartets.
