Bio : Rochelle Nguyen
A dedicated chamber musician, Rochelle Nguyen has stunned audiences with performances in concert halls and homes throughout the United States and Europe. She is a founding member of the Sierra Quartet, and also performs with the Nguyen – Van Gee Duo and the Altea Piano Quartet. Previously, she was a member of the prize-winning Oceana String Quartet in Seattle, Washington.
An active orchestral musician, Rochelle is the Associate Concertmaster of the Opera San Jose Orchestra, and the Assistant Principal Second of the San Jose Chamber Orchestra and the Santa Cruz Symphony. She is a section violinist in Symphony Silicon Valley and performs frequently as a substitute with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. Numerous music festival appearances include Music@Menlo, Festival Rolland, Midsummer Mozart, the Eastern Sierra Symphony Summer Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Center.
Rochelle’s teachers include Daniel Kobialka, Robin Sharp, Ron Patterson, and Diane Nicholeris. She studied chamber music with Melia Watras, and has worked with members of the St. Lawrence, Emerson, and American string quartets, appearing in additional masterclasses with Pamela Frank, Joseph Silverstein, Atar Arad, and Paul Kantor.
Rochelle received her Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford University and her Master’s Degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. When Rochelle isn’t playing the violin, she enjoys spending time with her rescue dogs, Anny and Noodle.
